Viet Nam, Thailand strengthen cooperation in drug prevention
VGP - The 14th Thailand-Viet Nam Bilateral Meeting on Drug Control Cooperation took place in Thailand to discuss the significant results achieved by the two sides and directions for drug prevention and control cooperation.
In exchanging information, the two countries agreed to maintain the established hotline, appointing officers to act as the contact point between the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department and the Drug Counselor (Thai Embassy in Ha Noi).
On investigation, depending on the specific case, the two sides report to the competent authority to establish a joint working group working at the scene or organize online meetings to share information promptly, cooperating in apprehending wanted persons hiding in each other's territories.
In fact, with the permission of the leadership of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security, C04 is currently participating in a project conducted by the Thai Police, providing information about several Vietnamese people involved in a transnational drug crime ring involving Thailand and Laos.
The two sides also agreed to strengthen the exchange of pre-export information on precursors and chemicals, including substances on the list of substances regulated under the online pre-export notification system and those outside the approved list of the reporting system of SMCC Center.
For the deployment of the SMCC Center among six countries (Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam) in 2019-2022, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department is completing the headquarters to welcome foreign delegates to work in the first quarter of 2023./.
