Number of prostitutes in VN announced
VGP – A report on the supervision of the realization of the Law on HIV/AIDS prevention and control and the Ordinance on prostitution prevention in 2011-2016 was released at the 4th ongoing sessions of the 14 th National Assembly by the NA Social Affairs Committee.

According to the International Labor Organization, as many as 100,000 sex workers have been recorded in Viet Nam, including 75,000 females.
The Ministry of Health estimated that there were around 87,000 prostitutes while the United Nations announced the figure is approximately 300,000.
From 2011-2016, the inter-provincial investigation groups handled 5,791 prostitution cases and arresting 23,231 violators, including 9,643 sex workers and 8,206 customers.
At present, a total number of 356,169 prostitutes have received support, including 335,261 supplied with health and medical services on HIV prevention and control, 4,643 others provided with legal support, while 5,734 have received vocational training and 10,531 have been helped to get jobs and loans of VND7,630 billion.
