Meeting held in Da Nang to share experience in HIV/AIDS prevention

VGP – The HIV/AIDS prevention and control center in the central city of Da Nang organized a meeting to exchange experience within the staff working at seven districts and 56 communes in the city.

The event created an opportunity for those in charge of HIV/AIDS to share experience in assisting HIV-infected people and launch prevention programs to limit mother-to-child HIV transmission.  

Delegates reviewed the achievements of 10 years of implementing HIV/AIDS prevention and control in the city, mobilizing more local budget for HIV/AIDS prevention activities and educating students on ways against HIV and safe sex.

As of December 31, 2016, as many as 2,058 HIV carriers were recorded in Da Nang, including 858 ones having developed full-blown AIDS and 464 died of AIDS.

HIV transmission through sexual behaviors accounted for nearly 99% among new HIV-positive ones in 2016.

In 2017, the city continues to launch 90-90-90 Plan and control the proportion of HIV/AIDS carriers at community lower than 0.15% and maintain the figure in post-2020.
