Law on prostitution prevention, control to be established

VGP – The Department of Social Evil Prevention and related departments, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs will continue focusing on the establishment and issuance of the Law on prostitution prevention and control to report to the Government in the upcoming months of 2019.

The department will also evaluate and review the implementation of the prostitution prevention and control program in the 2016-2020 period and propose measures and solutions for the 2021-2025 phase as well as set up norms for supporting prostitutes at community and social supporting centers. 

The sector will enhance interdisciplinary coordination on prostitution prevention and control and review the implementation of intervention programs.    

In the early months of the year, sites with prostitution activities    were complex and mainly appearing at big cities, tourist areas and industrial parks. 

As many as 91,026 conditional service business centers, including 44,722 accommodation facilities, 17,015 restaurants, karaoke and massage and 531 bars have been recorded nationwide. 

A total number of 922 sites with prostitution activities and 11, 639 prostitutes have been uncovered nationwide. However, the actual figure is much higher.
