Lam Dong: HIV transmissions among pregnant women account for 7.3%

VGP – The Central Highlands province of Lam Dong in 2020 has launched HIV testing for 23,136 pregnant women, uncovering 10 positive for HIV.

HIV/AIDS is mainly found in drug addicts (33.3%), heterosexual sex (9.9%), men who have sex with men (6.3%) and pregnant women (7.3%). 

HIV carriers were mainly aged from 25-49 (73.3%) and 15-24 (19.2%), of whom male and female made up 68.4% and 31.7%, respectively. 

As many as 719 patients have been treated with ARV, of whom 17 are children. Up to 676 out of 715 have been granted with health insurance, making up 94.5%.  

In 2021, the province aims to launch early diagnose for children under 18 month-old, ensuring that 100% of children born from mother with HIV will be early examined. 

According to the statistics of the province’s Center for Disease Control, 1,673 HIV carriers were recorded, 287 of whom developed full-blown AIDS and 589 HIV/AIDS related deaths. 

Currently, 799 HIV carriers are living in the locality.
