Hai Phong calls for more non-Governmental aid for HIV/AIDS prevention

VGP – The northern city of Hai Phong will finance US$5.1 million for HIV/AIDS treatment and care facilities and centers as a corresponding capital for receiving more than US$2.5 million from non-Governmental organizations.

In addition, the city will spend nearly US$1 million as a corresponding capital for non-Governmental aid worth US$853,320 to carry out intervention service packages focusing on partners of HIV carriers in the community, aiming to reduce new HIV carriers caused by drug addicts by 25% and new HIV carriers caused by sexual behaviors by 20%.

The northern city will spare more than US$3 million during this period to launch programs on supplying and improving knowledge on productive health and prevention of malnutrition of mothers and children.

According to the statistics, as of December 2019, Hai Phong City uncovered 5,858 HIV carriers, of whom 3,991 have been provided with ARV treatment at 16 medical facilities, making up 84%. The city is striving to raise the proportion to 90% this year.
