VGP – The capital city of Ha Noi has launched a project on enhancing human resource management in HIV/AIDS prevention and control to soon reach 90-90-90 Plan as an effort to implement the national strategy on HIV/AIDS prevention and control till 2020, with vision to 2030.

The project, sponsored by the EXPERTISE FRANCE for the 2020-2022 period, aims to establish a human resource management tool for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and other medical facilities in HIV/AIDS prevention and control in seven localities, including Ha Noi, Thai Nguyen Province, Son La Province, Thua Thien Hue Province, Khanh Hoa Province, Lam Dong Province and Kien Giang Province.

Deputy head of Ha Noi’s Department for Health Hoang Duc Hanh said that 10% of HIV carriers nationwide reside in Ha Noi.

Over the recent years, HIV/AIDS in Viet Nam tends to decrease, however, high risk of HIV transmissions in the community remains, especially remote and disadvantaged areas.

Viet Nam is the first nation in the Asia-Pacific committing to realizing 90-90-90 Plan. In 2016, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam affirmed that Viet Nam will do its utmost to control HIV in 2020 and end the disease by 2030.

The current status requires efficient and qualified human resources to provide HIV services and expand ARV treatment amid the reduction in the international sponsors for HIV/AIDS prevention.

The long-term goal of the project is to promote human resource management in HIV/AIDS prevention and control in the next period in 2020 and the upcoming years.
