VGP – The Southeast Asian nations discussed solutions to share the benefits of genetic resources to better the lives of millions of people.

The United Nations Environment Program cooperated with relevant agencies to organize the 4th International Regime on Access and Benefit Sharing of Genetic Resources (ABS) from November 20-22. At this conference, delegates shared progress in implementing the national action plans on ABS.

ASEAN drafted a Frame Agreement on ABS, aiming to provide a clear vision on the organization of implementation of ABS and a fair playground for all nations to control the exploitation of national genetic resources as well as recognize and protect the traditional knowledge of local people and communities.
